I’d like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! I know 2016 has been a difficult year for many of you, but I’d like to remain hopeful. Despite what you hear on the news, we live in an amazing era, in which technology is making so many new things possible. If you live in a western country, you are probably safer, healthier and more comfortable than anyone before in history.
Reflecting on 2016, I can only be grateful for everything I have. Being able to make a living from photography in my second year of business is just amazing. This year has gone beyond all of my expectations. My business has boomed. I’ve traveled for a few days every month except for three, including Cuba, the US, and France.
Living in one of the best cities in the world (Toronto) and one of the most welcoming countries in the world (Canada), being able to travel often, making a living from my passion, are all things that should not be taken for granted. I truly am lucky.
I know things can be tough. But honestly, if you have a roof over your head, a job, and you are living in a western country, you are better off than most other human beings. Hell, if you have food and drinking water, you’re better off than most people in the world. If you’re reading this, you probably have some fairly expensive camera equipment, which means money is not too much of a problem.
So, in 2017, let’s try to stay positive 🙂 Things are good. Don’t listen to the news or your friends who complain. Maybe it’s time to pursue your dream. Look at me: 2 years ago, I never would have thought I’d be running a successful photography business by now. Yet, here I am. I took a plunge and made it happen. Whatever you’ve been wanting to do, it’s time to do it. Seriously, just do it. Whether it’s building your own business, taking a trip around the world, or being exhibited in an art gallery, make it happen.
You know what’s worse than failing? Regrets. Seriously, when you’re older and thinking about your life, you don’t want to be regretting not taking that step. So let’s remember 2017 as the year we took a chance and made it happen.
