Earlier this summer, I photographed the new Audi Midtown dealership in Toronto. Located at the intersection of the major highways (404 and 401), the building has a strong presence when you’re driving by. The Audi dealership was designed by Teeple Architects and built by Eastern Construction.
As the building is literally next to the highway, I thought it’d provide an interesting foreground. Unfortunately, shooting around a highway interchange it quite tricky and it took me a while to find a way to shoot (other than driving by). I finally found a construction area in the middle of one of the ramps and went to shoot there outside of normal work hours.
The main view of the building was of course on the north side, where the entrance is located. I’m still undecided between the shot below and the straight elevation (at the top of the post).
I also captured a couple of shots on the east side, to give a little more depth to the building.
The last wide shot I took was an early morning one, showing the building with some greenery. It adds some variety to the cold, metallic structure.
To get the Audi brand in the shots, I got a couple of images of the entrance, that was lined up with cars.
I got a few details shot to wrap up the series, focussing on the shapes and patterns.
