On the last weekend of June, I was invited by Chris Smith to present at the Out of Chicago Conference. I talked about my creative process when shooting cityscapes, from how I prepare a trip to my post-processing techniques.
It was my first time teaching photography but it was an amazing experience. I had a lot of great feedback and I hope to do more of this in the future. I am thinking about doing video tutorials (I talked about it last year but never did it), so we’ll see how I can work it out.
They have an amazing community in Chicago, and I met a lot of great people, from the presenters to the staff: Angie McMonigal, Jordana Wright, Lara Joy Brynildssen, Anne Belmont, Marie Laigneau, John Crouch, Cassius Wright and of course Chris Smith.
Besides my two classes, I also led two photowalks along the Chicago River. It was great to be able to socialize with the attendees, and help them with their shots. It was raining for the first one, but we still go a couple of nice shots (including the one at the top):
The second one had much better weather and we enjoyed a nice evening walk along the river:
I also attended a few classes, a couple photowalks and a workshop, so I will write about them soon, because it was fun and challenging!
Thank you everyone for this great weekend. I really hope to come back next year!
